Night Out in Dubai from Sharjah: An Easy Late-Night Plan
Sharjah is a great place to live — family-friendly, well connected and better value than much of Dubai. But when it is time for a proper night out with music, dancing and drinks, Sharjah residents head across the border. Sharjah does not have licensed bars or nightclubs, so a night out in Dubai from Sharjah is part of life for many people in Al Nahda, Al Taawun, Al Majaz and Al Khan.
The good news: you do not need to go all the way to Dubai Marina. The nearest established nightlife district is Bur Dubai, and this guide shows you how to plan the whole night, from the drive in to getting home safely.
Why Bur Dubai is the smart choice from Sharjah
From most of Sharjah, Bur Dubai is the closest area with hotel nightclubs. Underground Club, in the Grand Excelsior Hotel in Al Mankhool, is around 10–14 km in a straight line from Al Nahda, Al Taawun and Al Majaz. Compare that with Dubai Marina or the Palm, which are around 35 km or more from central Sharjah.
That difference matters at 3 AM. A shorter trip means a cheaper taxi, less time on the road and more time on the dance floor. Bur Dubai is also relaxed and good value, which suits a weeknight out as well as the weekend.
How long does it take?
Typical taxi times from Sharjah to Underground Club in Al Mankhool:
- Al Nahda (Sharjah side) / Al Taawun: about 25–35 minutes outside peak traffic
- Al Majaz / Rolla / Al Khan: about 30–45 minutes outside peak traffic
- Muwaileh / University City: about 35–50 minutes
The Sharjah–Dubai roads are busiest in the early evening and on Thursday and Friday nights. If you leave after 9 PM, the trip is usually much quicker. Taxis from Sharjah to Dubai are available through ride-hailing apps and Sharjah taxis; for the trip back, Dubai taxis wait outside the hotel.
Full step-by-step directions, including Metro options from the Dubai side of Al Nahda, are on our directions page.
Planning the night: a simple timeline
8:00–9:30 PM — Dinner
Eat in Sharjah before you leave, or come early and eat in Bur Dubai. Karama and Al Mankhool have restaurants for every budget, and Underground Club serves food from our menu all night.
10:00 PM — Arrive and settle in
Arriving earlier means a better table and time to order a shisha before the room fills up.
11:00 PM onwards — Live show and DJ
The stage comes alive with live singers and dance performances, and later the DJ takes over the dance floor. See who is playing on our DJ nights page.
Late — Head home
Book your ride home before you leave the table. Never drive after drinking — Dubai and Sharjah both have zero tolerance.
Best nights for Sharjah residents
If you are travelling in, choose a night that makes the trip worthwhile:
- Ladies night runs every [CONFIRM: day], with [CONFIRM: offer] for ladies. Details on our ladies night in Bur Dubai page.
- Weekend nights are the busiest, with the full live line-up and DJs.
- Weeknights are quieter and more relaxed — good for a smaller group or a first visit.
Bur Dubai or Deira: which side of the Creek?
Both Bur Dubai and Deira have hotel nightclubs, and both are reachable from Sharjah. Deira is slightly closer to the Al Nahda border, but it can be busier with traffic around Al Ittihad Road and the Al Maktoum and Garhoud bridges. Bur Dubai, on the other side of the Creek, is more central to the rest of Dubai and has plenty of restaurants nearby in Karama and Meena Bazaar. If you want a Russian-style club with live singers and dance shows, Underground Club in Al Mankhool is a good fit. If you are meeting friends who live in Dubai, Bur Dubai is also a fair halfway point for everyone.
What to expect when you arrive
Underground Club is on Basement Level 1 of the Grand Excelsior Hotel. The door team checks ID, then guides you to your table. The room is designed in a Moscow-inspired style, with a stage for live singers and performers and a dance floor for the DJ sets later in the night. Food, cocktails and shisha are served at your table, so you can settle in for the whole evening without moving between venues.
Coming as a group? Book a table
Many Sharjah guests come together in one or two taxis, which is cheaper and safer. If there are four or more of you, it is worth reserving a table in advance so you are not waiting when you arrive. Tell us your group size and arrival time and we will hold the table. Book a table for your group or WhatsApp +971 56 765 6065.
